Recent work

Wood, chain link and aluminum

Cincinnati back yards, front walks and one very long cemetery run. Every photo here is one of ours.

What we do

Repair first. New fence when it's actually needed.

Fence repair

The reason for the name. Rotted posts, leaning panels, a gate that stopped latching — the rails and pickets that are still sound stay where they are.

New fence

Wood, chain link, ornamental aluminum and PVC, for houses and for commercial lots.

Gates

Including gates built around what you already own. One customer's own shutters and panels went into a new double gate.

Staining & painting

On fences we built and on fences we didn't. We also take old fence away.

How it goes

Jim comes out

He looks at the fence himself and tells you what can be saved and what can't.

You get a number

One customer wrote that the estimate was exactly what he paid at the end.

The crew builds it

Jim and Tyrone on site, working around the creek, the slope or the neighbor's line.

About

Ask for Jim

Fence Doctor is Jim and Angela Combs, working out of Pleasant Ridge. Jim is the one who comes out to look at the fence, and he is usually the one standing in the yard building it.

The name is meant literally. Reviewers keep describing the same thing: he saves the split rails that are still good, works a new gate around panels you already own, and repairs a fifty-year-old chain link run rather than tearing the whole block out. Wood, chain link, ornamental aluminum and PVC, residential and commercial.

Fair warning, and we would rather say it here: good fence work books out. It is normally several weeks before we can start.

In their words

“I have been a volunteer caretaker of the Mt. Washington Cemetery in Cincinnati for 38 years. We needed many repairs to a 50 plus year old, block-long chain link fence. Jim Combs runs the Fence Doctor and he is as warm and professional as they come. Jim and his wonderful team executed the repairs flawlessly in one day.”

— Julie R., Yelp review

“Jim brought over the new split rails replacements ahead of time so I could stain them so they blended in better and utilized the existing split rails where he could. He also replaced a gate and put in a new big gate using shutters and panels I already had.”

— SL R., Yelp review

“We had a difficult fencing repair project, because of a large creek running through our backyard. However, Jim and Tyrone very successfully repaired the fence and added extra wiring and a screen. You can fully trust Fence Doctor.”

Questions

Questions people ask before they call

Can you repair my fence instead of replacing it?

That is the usual answer, and it is where the name comes from. Posts, rails and pickets that are still sound stay in the ground. Reviewers describe existing split rails being reused and a fifty-year-old chain link run being repaired rather than replaced.

What kinds of fence do you work on?

Wood, chain link, ornamental aluminum and PVC, for houses and for commercial property. We also install and repair gates, stain and paint, and haul old fence away.

How soon can you start?

Not right away, and we would rather tell you that now. Work is normally booked several weeks out. Call and we will tell you honestly where you would land.

Do you come out and look at the job?

Yes. Jim comes to the property, looks at what is there and works out what can be saved before quoting anything.

Do you handle awkward yards?

Often. Reviewers describe a fence repaired across a creek running through a back yard, work on a sloping lot, and a run set carefully along a neighbor's line.

Do you offer a military discount?

Yes. It is listed on our profile — mention it when you call.
